There are dozens of tools to track a company's digital exposure. One of our favorite software applications is provided by Alexa, a California-based subsidiary of Amazon. Their software offers several metrics which help users track their blog/website/web application's growth, or in some cases, track their decline.
A few of Alexa's complementary metrics include bounce rate, average time on site, and the average number of page views per visitor; these metrics are used to measure a site's ability to engage the user.
Traffic data and incoming links are also complimentary metrics, both are used to help determine a site's overall popularity and trust. Every website that participates in Alexa's tracking system is ranked both globally as well as nationally. There are over 30,000 million sites currently ranked.
Google Analytics is our preferred tool to analyze daily, weekly and monthly analytics, but Alexa provides a fantastic snapshot of a site's overall progress.Ultimately, Google wants to provide users quality, engaging content from sources their algorithm deems trustworthy.
